A pool is a group of your own providers that all serve the same model. Conduit sends each run to the next one in rotation, and when one rate-limits or falls over the run carries on somewhere else instead of dying.
Building pools is free and always will be. What a key buys is the rotation itself.

[ how a key behaves ]
Checked once. Then it stays out of your way.
A key is verified online the first time you paste it, and after that Conduit works from a cached grant. Losing your connection does not cost you rotation.
- Paste the key in Settings → Providers. It activates once against this site.
- Conduit re-checks quietly every 24 hours, in the background.
- Offline, the cached grant keeps working for 14 days.
- Release a device from your key at any time to move it to another machine.
when the allowance runs out
Nothing breaks and nothing is blocked. A pooled chat simply answers on the pool's first provider — byte for byte what you would get with rotation switched off. You keep working; you just stop spreading the load.

Rotation is what a key meters — not messages, not tokens, not projects. One run is one thing you asked for, however many tool steps it takes to finish.
[ worth knowing ]
- A key does not come with model access.
- You bring your own provider keys, as always. A pool spreads runs across the keys you already pay for — it does not give you credit anywhere.
- Spreading only helps if the keys are independent.
- Three keys on one upstream account share one quota. Conduit cannot tell, and will happily rotate into the same rate limit.
- Rotation is per run, not per step.
- A long agentic run stays on the provider that started it, so the conversation is never replayed across two protocols mid-task.
- A revoked key stops working within a day.
- Not instantly — that is the flip side of working offline. The cached grant is honoured until the next check.
